Clinical indication of ST25 (Tian Shu)

1. Name
a. The name "Pivot" or "Axis" implies that this point is located on the umbilicus line and it is the axis between top upper and lower part of body. 
b. The name also implies that it is the center of the wheel which circulates the body's energy.

2. Abdomen
a. Great point for Abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal obesity. 
b. Effective for borborygmus.
c. Marvelous point for Disorder of Large Intestine. (Front-Mu point of LI)
d. Used for weakness of four limbs or sagging down of lower abdomen.
e. For Children's diarrhea, apply intradermal needle on both ST25. It works fast.

3. Moxa
a. Moxa RN12, ST25, RN4 (Regulate ST,LI,SI Front-Mu points). If other treatments including acupuncture or herbs fails to revive the patient, use moxa at ST25, RN4, RN12. 
b. In general, this point is better to use with moxa than Acupuncture. For Internal diseases, Moxa is much better for ST25. However, for obesity, needle is better.

4. Related Channels
Same Level with RN8, KD16, SP15, GB26 and almost same level with GB25, DU4 as well. That means it is related with KD, SP, Dai Mai, DU as well.

5. Four Doors
Four Doors (ST25, RN12, RN6) are great for regulating Digestive function, Postnatal Qi mechanism.

6. Obesity
Use long needle on Four Doors. When needling, if it stuck take out and needle again. Insert the needle slowly when the patient breath out.  In addition to Four Door, you can combine any of following group depending on patient's symptoms.
a. ST36, LV3, GB39
b. LI4, SJ2, LI11
c. LI15, GB20, UB12
d. UB25, UB40

7. Moxa ST25 + Tonics  
If you moxa ST25 when a patient is taking Tonic formula, the formula will be enhanced (work better).
